One thing I didn't mention, or maybe I did and I just don't remember, is that my parents decided to put the cottage up for sale earlier this year. Tonight my mom messaged me on facebook to tell me that they sold the cottage and they have until August 24th. They've been looking into renting a house.

It kinda sucks because they've had the cottage for over 15 years. I remember going up there every weekend when I was younger. Spending a week here and there during summers, bringing a ton of books with me and finishing them all. Going outside at night to stargaze and seeing EVERYTHING, bbq's, family get togethers, swimming, fishing, paddleboating, and just staring out at the water and being so relaxed.

I can understand why they're doing it though. They want somewhere permanent. When they sold our old house they decided to move to the cottage. That was only good for the summer. They wouldn't be able to live in it during the winter since the roads leading to it weren't really maintained during the winter.

So they'd spend the summer at the cottage, go to Florida for the winter, come back, stay with my grandparents for a few weeks, then go up to open the cottage. They eventually got tired of going to Florida every year and sold the trailer they were living in down there.

Last year they spent the winter in Ottawa. They're tired of going from place to place. They want somewhere permanent. They apparently put in an offer on a house in a really really small town, that's on the way to the cottage. So I hope they get it. It'll be nice to actually be able to spend Christmas together again.
